Castle on a Cloud

Often I create castles in the sky as I paint. They simply emerge from my creative wanderings up a sharp cliff, or through a cloudscape.
Some of you have watched these castles emerge as I’ve created live at events, or when I carve “live” images with paint on canvas, from my studio via Facebook.

People ask me what these castles are and they inquire about their origins, so here you go. They emerge when I wander up a hill in my mind. Often I am painting out a prayer or contemplating my way through a craggy area of life. or creating. For me they are not literal places, yet they are places I go in my heart and in my mind. Places of wonder, places of solace, palaces of peace. Sometimes when I am overwhelmed, I jump in my car and I drive to the waterfront and watch the waves. Sometimes, I go in my heart and my mind to a castle on a cloud, or to a castle on a cliff— and I navigate a pathway of peace, up a cliff face.
