Life’s trajectory is sometimes interrupted by reality. Present plans shift, adjust, refocus, and reset. Sometimes we choose this, sometimes it is chosen for us. We embark on journeys that are recalibrated or displaced by living, by dying, by hopes deferred, and by restoration. As life passes, we find history collapsing in a day, as life restores pathways we thought were long gone, back into our present world. According to the ‘Dorys’ of this world, we “just keep swimming”, and if we do, we may be amazed at the restoration of life as history is interrupted with our transformational present.
In this work, the matches are consumed, yet their beauty is present to remind us that they burned, and they are reorganized yet again, into a place of beauty and grace.
